The talk offers a journey into the world of contemporary drawing — a language increasingly recognized today as both autonomous and vital. Artist Eugenio Tibaldi, who has made paper a privileged field of experimentation since the beginning of his career, will retrace his rich and multifaceted production through personal processes, intuitions, and poetics. Alongside him, Elena Zaccarelli, Senior Specialist in the Modern and Contemporary Art Department at Christie’s Milan, will provide a critical and up-to-date perspective on the market, analyzing the parameters that are driving the growing recognition of drawing and the expanding interest of collectors in this versatile, intimate medium open to new perspectives.
EUGENIO TIBALDI (Alba, 1977) is an artist particularly devoted to drawing and watercolor, whose work explores marginal aesthetics and the relationship between economy and the contemporary landscape. For Tibaldi, the concept of the margin is more a mental condition than a geographical one: through his practice, he activates processes that, when applied to art, make alternative aesthetics visible and offer new critical interpretations of contemporary society.
ELENA ZACCARELLI is Senior Specialist in the Modern and Contemporary Art Department at Christie’s Milan, where she oversees the 20th/21st Century: Milan Sales auctions. After earning her degree in Art History from the University of Bologna and gaining early experience in Florentine galleries, she joined Christie’s in 2010, advancing through various roles and international collaborations. She has contributed to major consignments and curated the sale of the “Next Chapter” Collection in London and New York. Today, she is passionately dedicated to Italian art, combining a local perspective with a global outlook.
